The month of May is one of the hottest month of the year. This is also the month were most of us are spending our summer vacation. Summer vacation means, traveling and going to places we want to spent our vacation. But summer time is not just vacation, but this also the time when most of the people are going back to their homeland and visit their families and relatives. Last week, May 15, 2016 we celebrated The International Day of Families. The International Day of Families is observed on the 15th of May every year. The Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993 with resolution A/RES/47/237 and reflects the importance the international community attaches to families.

The International Day provides an opportunity to promote awareness of issues relating to families and to increase knowledge of the social, economic and demographic processes affecting families. The year 1994 was proclaimed as the International Year of Families by the United Nations. The International Day of Families, on May 15, is an occasion to reflect on the work started during 1994 and to celebrate the importance of families, people, societies and cultures around the world. It has been held every year since 1995.

“Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to love is family. Having both is a blessing.”

In observance with the International Day of Families which we celebrated every month of may, The Trazo Clan (my Father's-in-Law side of the family) also celebrated their 36th Grand Family Reunion last May 20, 2016 at La Victoria Trinidad Bohol.

The Departure

Last May 19, 2016 (Thursday afternoon) a day before the Grand Family Reunion, my family and my Family-in-law's headed towards Pier 3 Port Area to board the 12:00PM schedule of VG Shipping Lines headed to Talibon, Bohol.

The Arrival

With VG Shipping Lines, it approximately takes 4 hours travel time to reach the Talibon Port. We arrived in the Talibon Port Area at around 4:08 PM.

We were greeted with vendors selling luscious "Lumboy" or we call it in English as "Black Plum". Lumboy is a native fruit in the Philippines and usually bears Fruit during summer season.

The lumboy in Talibon, Bohol only costs 10 php/per cup or we call it in Bisaya as "per Caltex" (a Gasoline Refueling company in the Philippines that sells this oil cup container - Caltex Cup, which most Old Folk vendors cleaned the cup and uses this as a form of measurement when selling and trading goods in local area)".

When we arrived at our destination in La Victoria, Trinidad, it's already late in the afternoon almost like 5:00PM and most of our relatives were already there. My Uncles, Aunties and Cousins are already very busy preparing for the grand reunion and of course, we Filipinos despite our busy preparation won't forget our selfie poses and picture taking with our relatives.

The Preparation

At night time, everyone is very busy preparing for the celebration tomorrow. My wife's Family hosted the Grand Reunion event and butchered cow and pigs for the big feast tomorrow.

On the next, which is the Grand Family Reunion day, everyone are very excited to meet other relatives of the Trazo Clan.  My Uncles prepared the Tarpaulin for the Grand Reunion.

Trazo Clan's Family Background

Juan Trazo and Antonina Bufe were the great grand parents of my Wife. My Father in Law- Armando Trazo is the grandson of Juan Trazo and Antonina Bufe. Juan Trazo and Antonina Bufe had 11 children and one of them is Federico Trazo who was the father of my Father-in-Law(Armando Trazo).

On the Photo Above, it shows the Family Tree of the Trazo Clan. I only trace down and posted the root towards the branch family of my Wife and I'm sorry if I can't post everyone here in the family tree since the space for this photo is not enough to post all other family members and these are also the family names which I've taken from the Grand Reunion Program list which is shown below.

The Celebration Begins

We waited all the guests to come to the 36th Grand Reunion and while waiting for them, its time for some picture taking

And here are the clan members together with some of the favorite quotes I'd like to include...

“You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.”

“Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.” » Brad Henry

“Many men can make a fortune but very few can build a family.” » J.S. Bryan

“Many men can make a fortune but very few can build a family.” » J.S. Bryan

An ounce of blood is worth more than a pound of friendship.” » Spanish Proverb

The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each others life. -Richard Bach

When the event was finally over, all of the family relatives bid each others a sweet good bye and we are all very happy for having seen each other again.

Think of your family today and every day thereafter, don’t let the busy world of today keep you from showing how much you love and appreciate your family. Our family is like a circle of strength of love with every birth and every union the circle grows. Families are like a compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally make some bad decision.

“Love your family. Spend time, be kind and serve one another. Make no room for regrets. We're not promised Tomorrow and today is short.
